The roster works best when the user has a name, arrest date, or agency clue. A broad name search can return multiple people. A date filter may help when the arrest is recent. Held-for agency can help distinguish local police arrests, Family Court holds, General Sessions matters, and other agencies. Pickens County Inmate Record Fields
A public inmate result is a custody snapshot. It may show enough detail to identify the person and the holding agency, but it does not replace a certified court record, sheriff FOIA response, or criminal case disposition. The live API returned fields such as name, race, sex, cell block, arrest date, held-for agency, mugshot, date of birth, hold reasons, juvenile setting, and release date. Pickens does not configure every generic Zuercher field as a public display column.

Pickens County Detention Center
The detention center is separate from the sheriff administrative address. It is the in-person jail facility for county inmate questions, custody, visitation, and inmate contact processes. Pickens County Booking and Bond Details
Hold reasons can connect the jail record to the court charge path. Sample records showed charges in hold reasons along with arrest dates, bond type or amount, judge or set-by fields, and hold-for-other-agency notes. A jail result may show why a person is held, but the charge may later be amended, dismissed, indicted, or resolved in court. Booking details may also point to another agency. The held-for-agency filter includes local police departments, Family Court, General Sessions Court, federal agencies, and many statewide agencies. If a person is transferred to state prison after sentencing, the Pickens County jail roster is no longer the main custody source. State sentenced inmates are separate from county jail inmates.

Pickens County Inmate Visitation
Pickens County public visitation uses Securus video visitation scheduling. Public visits are limited to two per day per inmate and must be scheduled 24 hours in advance. The sheriff's visitation policy says public or on-site visitation is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with no visits after 3:40 p.m. Problems with visitation or scheduling route to the on-duty Sergeant or facility Lieutenant at 864-898-1434.

Contact Pickens County Inmates
The sheriff's contacting-inmates page says inmate phones are collect-only through Securus, and inmates may buy calling cards through commissary. Mail rules changed effective July 22, 2024. The detention center continues accepting legal mail, publications from publishers, distributors, or authorized retailers, and money orders. The required address format includes the inmate full name and ID number, housing unit, 701 S. Catherine Street, Pickens County Detention, Pickens, SC 29671.

- Include the housing unit when the facility requires it.
- Legal mail, approved publications, and money orders have separate handling rules.

Pickens County Commissary and Money
Commissary deposits can be made online through the Jail Pack Store link from the sheriff page, and users need the inmate name and ID number. Money orders may still be sent to the detention center. The detention FAQ says the lobby banking kiosk accepts cash and credit cards, users need the inmate MNI number from a notebook near the kiosk, only U.S. Postal money orders are accepted by mail, and the Pickens County Detention Center four-digit code is 5500.

Pickens County Jail Records Requests
The online roster is not the only access channel. Sheriff Records Management and FOIA are the fallback for incident reports, arrest or charge case files, dispositions, and expungement orders. If the custody entry does not answer the question, a request may need the person's name, arrest date, case or incident number if known, requested record type, contact information, and copy format. Some records may be withheld, redacted, sealed, or unavailable because of juvenile status, ongoing investigation, protected identifiers, or expungement.
South Carolina FOIA includes certain recent jail, detention, and prison confinement documents in categories available for inspection unless an exemption applies. Public access still does not mean every detail in an inmate record is open. Pickens portal settings had show_juveniles false, and protected court information may be limited by state law and court rules.
